“Finally, be strengthened by the Lord and by his vast strength.” – Ephesians 6:10 (CSB)
Every one of us has come to the end of ourselves at one point or another. And if you are anything like me, you have come to the end of yourself a lot more often in 2020 than in years past. So, what do you do? Life must go on. The work must get done. We don’t get to simply take a time-out and stop living for a while. The answer, for those of us who are in Christ, is that we draw on the strength of the Lord. How much strength does our Lord have? All of it! All of the strength in the entire universe is available to you because you have been reconciled to God through Christ Jesus. We are God’s children and he strengthens us with the strength that he himself possesses.
This truth not only gives us the power to live each day, but it also deepens our relationship with God. If I know that this infinite strength is available to me, then I will do everything I can to access it. My prayer life, devotional life, and worship life all of the sudden become a huge priority. As we make these things a priority, we experience more of God’s strength, and that leads us to pursue an even deeper relationship with him. It is a beautiful cycle! So next time you come to the end of yourself, know that you will never come to the end of God.
Lord, give us the wisdom to pursue a deeper level of intimacy with You every day and, in that, let Your strength be what empowers us to live out Your calling in our lives.
In Christ’s Service,
