“We ought to thank God always for you, brothers and sisters, and rightly so, since your faith is flourishing and the love each one of you has for one another is increasing.” – 2 Thessalonians 1:3
Each time an election year comes around, we get to see lots of ads showing us how horrible the “other candidate” is. You know those ads; dingy black and white video of “the other guy” with all kinds of statements on screen about the things he has done wrong. In fact, we often begin to vote, not based on policies, but on which person is the least evil. It becomes very disheartening and even depressing to hear multiple times a day how horrible our politicians are.
So, how do we overcome all this negativity? Take some time and give thanks for the amazing people in the world. In each of our lives we have wonderful, godly people. We each have many men and women who act justly, love faithfully, and walk humbly with God. Spend time with them, pray for them, and thank God for them. As more and more hatred grows in our world, we can continue to love one another more and more deeply every day. Give thanks for your brothers and sisters!
Heavenly Father, thank You for the incredible brothers and sisters You have put in my life. Let our time together be sweet, our prayers for one another be constant, and let our love for one another increase daily. Let us be encouraged and strengthened by the loving family we have in Jesus Christ.
In Christ’s Service,
Pastor Shane Cannon
