“I lift up my eyes to the hills– where does my help come from? My help comes from the LORD, the Maker of heaven and earth.” – Psalm 121:1-2

Yesterday was an incredibly important day for the United States of America, as historic elections took place all across our country. As we wake up this morning and sort through the reality of our newly elected officials and newly implemented laws, we, as children of God, must remember one very important thing; as great of a country as we are privileged to live in, the United States of America has never been, nor will it ever be, our Savior. There is no doubt that our lives are clearly effected by our government, and we must take seriously the opportunity to shape that government. But our hope, our security, our strength, and our joy will forever by rooted in God alone. So whether your candidate won or lost last night, be careful that you do not lift your eyes to Capitol Hill in order to find your salvation. True Salvation, hope, peace, joy, and security are only found in an intimate relationship with the Almighty God who loves us so much that He gave His one and only Son to rescue us from our sin. And no matter what happened last night, that truth is the same yesterday, today, and forever!

Almighty God and Father, today we place all our hope squarely in You alone. Rescue us and sustain us today and for all eternity.

In Christ’s Service,

Pastor Shane Cannon <><
