“And we, who with unveiled faces all reflect the Lord’s glory, are being transformed into his likeness with ever-increasing glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit.” – 2 Corinthians 3:18
One of the first things I was taught when learning to ride a motorcycle is “look where you want to go.” Since riding a motorcycle involves so much balance, much of it is intuitive. Because of this, you learn very quickly that your body will naturally steer the motorcycle wherever your eyes are fixed. So when a car pulls out in front of you, or there is an accident on the road ahead, you cannot fix your eyes on the cars, or you will run right into them. You must look, not at the crash, but at where you want to go. This same principle holds true in our spiritual life as well. When Scripture tells us to “fix our eyes on Jesus,” (Hebrews 12:2) we are looking at where we want to go. However, when we fix our eyes on all the problems and darkness around us, we will end up squarely in the middle of them. So today, make a conscious effort to fix your eyes on Jesus, because as you do you will head toward Him and you will be transformed into His likeness more and more every day.
Heavenly Father, keep us mindful of the constant need to fix our eyes on Jesus. Don’t let us be overwhelmed or distracted by the problems around us, but let us, instead, be transformed into the likeness of our Savior.
