“Thanks be to God for his indescribable gift!” – 2 Corinthians 9:15

As soon as Halloween is over everyone gets excited to celebrate Christmas. Many people have been anxiously waiting to start this celebration since January! I would love to think that everyone is excited to remember the birth of Christ, but I’m afraid their conversation and social media posts focus a lot more on Christmas trees, presents, ugly sweaters, and pumpkin spice lattes. It breaks my heart that everyone seems to completely forget there is another incredibly important holiday between Halloween and Christmas: Thanksgiving!

Giving thanks is probably one of the most overlooked aspects of our relationship with God. We spend so much time asking for blessings and so little time praising him for the blessings we have already received. But on our holiday calendar, we have the perfect opportunity to correct this mistake. I want to challenge you to concentrate on giving thanks every day between now and November 25th. Then, when December 25th rolls around you will realize how undeserving you are of every blessing, and you will be completely overwhelmed by the gift of God’s One and Only Son. You will celebrate Christmas like never before!

Heavenly Father, Mighty God, and most Gracious Provider, we give thanks in all things at all times. We lift our hearts in praise to You. You are the author of unimaginable blessings!

In Christ’s Service,

Pastor Shane Cannon
