“For you were called to be free, brothers and sisters; only don’t use this freedom as an opportunity for the flesh, but serve one another through love.” – Galatians 5:13

Yesterday my 11-year-old son wanted to go buy a used video game for an older system he has. The problem was, he ended up about $5 short of being able to afford it. So, you can imagine how great it was to see both my 8-year-old daughter and my 16-year-old daughter willing, and even excited that they had enough money to help him out. One thing I love about my children is their excitement to share with one another. Like any other kids, they have had their fights. However, for the most part, they love to share their gifts with one another and see their siblings enjoy something they themselves have enjoyed.

There is incredible personal value in our salvation. We are free from sin and condemnation. We are able to live confident lives knowing that we are seated with Christ in heaven. We can live with perfect peace, knowing that he will never leave us or forsake us. However, most of us have made the mistake of being selfish with our salvation. We hold on to what Christ has accomplished for us and the restored relationship we have with God, and it never makes any impact beyond our personal lives. A huge part of being a child of God is that you now have the opportunity…and I would even say the obligation…to minister to others. So, today I encourage you to take the incredible blessing of salvation that God has given you and use it to bless someone else. Who around you needs some joy, encouragement, peace, confidence, or love today? Find that person. Minister to that person. Serve them through the love that God has so graciously given you.

Heavenly Father, we could never praise you enough for all that you have accomplished in our lives through the loving sacrifice of Jesus Christ. But help us to never be satisfied with that love ending there. Use that incredible salvation to minister to others through us.

In Christ’s Service,

Pastor Shane Cannon
