“‘For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways,’ declares the Lord. ‘As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.’” – Isaiah 55:8

Over the last year and a half, I have dealt with some fairly serious health problems. And if you have ever had serious health problems then you know how scary it can be. I am going again today to see a specialist; someone who is an expert in the field of medicine that deals with my condition. My hope is that, because of their higher education and their vast body of knowledge, they would be able to give me some answers to relieve my fear and anxiety. But so far I have been disappointed. Even though this doctor has understanding that far surpasses my own, he still has not been able to bring any kind of comfort. And probably worst of all, I feel as if it in no way effects his heart. I feel that there is no real concern for me.

In the midst of this struggle I have found a new peace in the Great Physician. The Bible teaches us that God’s thoughts and ways are immeasurably greater than ours. As we walk this earth, we come across many things that we have no answers for. We have problems and fears that we cannot understand. But when we put our faith in the knowledge and wisdom of God, we are never disappointed. God is never perplexed at our predicament. God never has to refer us to someone else for help. Now, add to that the truth that he loves us and has made an incredible sacrifice to heal us, then we can be certain that this great knowledge and wisdom will always be used for our good.

Almighty God, I am at peace today knowing that Your thoughts and ways are higher than all of our earthy knowledge. I place my trust in You and You alone.

In Christ’s Service,
Pastor Shane Cannon
