“They hurried off and found both Mary and Joseph, and the baby who was lying in the manger. After seeing them, they reported the message they were told about this child, and all who heard it were amazed at what the shepherds said to them.” – Luke 2:16-18

The story of the angels appearing to the shepherds and announcing the birth of Jesus is one of the most famous Christmas passages. We probably all know it well. When we tell this story we usually end with v.16 and the shepherds finding everything exactly as the angels had said. But the story does not stop there. As soon as the shepherds have found the Savior, they immediately go and share the good news. They have heard that the Savior has come, they have seen the Savior, and now they are compelled to tell everyone about this incredible thing that has happened.

Have you heard that the Savior has come? Have you seen him? Then what is stopping you from sharing the Good News with everyone you meet? This time of year, opportunities are all around you. Tell someone who that baby in the manger really is. Tell someone exactly why that song on the radio proclaims, “glory to the newborn king.” We are surrounded by the greatest news the world has ever received, and I believe many people will be amazed when you tell them what Christmas is really all about.

Father, fill us with such incredible joy and excitement this Christmas season that we cannot help but share the Good News of our Savior’s birth. Prepare the hearts of those around us so that they will be amazed at all we have to say.

In Christ’s Service,

Pastor Shane Cannon
