“In him (Christ) are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge.” – Colossians 2:3

I recently bought a used car for my oldest daughter to drive during her senior year of high school, and to possibly take to college next year. I got a great deal on the car because it was not running. I did some research and made sure that the most likely problems were not something really expensive. However, when I took it to the shop this week, I found out there is a possibility it is a very expensive repair. So, I spent all afternoon yesterday searching the internet for answers. As I looked, I only became more worried and more frustrated because everyone had a different opinion. The longer I looked the more confused I became. I had access to all these sources, but I didn’t know who I could trust and who was right.

Have you ever felt this way about the large questions in life? How do I make my marriage work? How do I raise my children? How do I help my neighbor who is struggling? When these hard questions come to us we often read books, watch television shows, and ask friends. Those are great things, but none of them hold all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge. True wisdom and knowledge for any and every situation in life only come from Jesus Christ. Is that the first place you turn? Is your first conversation a conversation with God? He can use many different people and resources to reveal wisdom and knowledge to you, but you must make sure you are always seeking him first.

Mighty God, we recognize that You are the only one who truly has the wisdom and knowledge to walk us through this world. We recognize that Jesus Christ is the only way we have access to that wisdom and knowledge. So today we are committing to seek You first. As we do, we ask that You speak loud and clear and guide us where You would have us go.
