For Christ’s love compels us, because we are convinced that one died for all, and therefore all died. And he died for all, that those who live should no longer live for themselves but for him who died for them and was raised again.” – 2 Corinthians 5:14-15

There are many things that motivate us to think and act certain ways throughout the day. Unfortunately many, if not most, of those motivations are selfish and sinful. However, we should all strive to stand and say, it is Christ’s love that compels me to live the way I do from day to day, and moment to moment. It is not good enough to simply be motivated by “love.” It must be Christ’s love. The world has sold us a self-centered version of love that often times is just a renaming of lust. However, Christ’s love is a pure, sacrificial love that always does what is best for the loved one. So today, in all your thoughts and actions, stop for a moment and ask yourself, “is it the love of Christ that is compelling me to action right now?” Because in the end, there is no other proper response to the One who died for us except for us to live for Him. Lord, change the very depths of our hearts to match Yours, so that all our thoughts and actions can be driven by Your love.
