“All of us have become like something unclean, and all our righteous acts are like a polluted garment; all of us wither like a leaf, and our iniquities carry us away like the wind.” – Isaiah 64:6

All of us are sinful. Even those of us who have been rescued from the punishment of our sin through Christ are still tainted by our daily sinfulness. This is not something we like to talk about, but it is vital that we remember it. When we forget this fact, several things can happen:

First, we begin to look down on others, as if their sinfulness somehow makes them less important or less loved than us.

Second, we let our guard down. We are never more in danger of sinning than when we believe we are not sinful.

The third and final danger, and probably the most concerning, is that when we forget our sinfulness, we forget the incredible, daily mercy and grace that we experience through the love of God in Christ.

Father, keep us ever mindful of our sinfulness so that we will show compassion toward one another, always be on guard against the enemy, and daily celebrate Your amazing mercy and grace that we experience through the incredible, sacrificial love of Jesus Christ.

In Christ’s Service,

Pastor Shane Cannon
