“Those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.” – Isaiah 40:31
If you were walking along, doing just fine, and someone put out their hand and offered to help you, you would find it strange at the very least, and possibly even offensive. However, if you had fallen into a pit or were in the middle of a storm, you would be relieved and thankful for the offer of help. Unfortunately, in our relationship with God we often see His help as something we may need in the future, and pay it little attention for today. However, it is only those who wait on the Lord, who depend on Him for help, who are actually strong in this world.
Reminding us of this truth is one of the purposes of thanksgiving. When we take regular time to stop and thank God for all of His work in our lives, we are, by default, recognizing our weakness and confessing His strength. An attitude of thanksgiving leads to a heart that is wholly dependent on God. And a life fully dependent on God is the most powerful life we can live!
Heavenly Father, we come today and thank You for Your incredible goodness and miraculous work in our lives. Let us recognize our weakness, lean on Your strength, and find abundant and powerful life.
In Christ’s Service,
