“Sing to the LORD, you saints of his; praise his holy name. For his anger lasts only a moment, but his favor lasts a lifetime; weeping may remain for a night, but rejoicing comes in the morning.” – Psalm 30:4-5

I can’t remember a time when I laid worried in the middle of the night that the sun would never rise again. I have seen many sunsets in my lifetime, and I can’t remember ever being concerned that the sun would not come back up. Why am I so confident each time? Because as long as I have lived, the sun has been consistent; it has been faithful. Likewise, God has never once left me in the darkness.

However, unlike the sun, I often doubt God’s goodness and faithfulness in the dark times. When I am going through trials, it is easy to fear that good will never come and God will never rescue me. However, this fear is as silly as worrying all night long that the sun will never rise again. It is true, we go through times of trial and darkness. But the God who has promised to never leave or forsake us is faithful to bring rejoicing again each and every morning. So if you are basking in the light of His love today, rejoice and praise Him. But if you are going through the darkness, weeping in the night, remember, as sure as the sun rises every morning, rejoicing will come again!

Father, forgive us for the times we doubt Your goodness and deliverance. Give us confidence in each and every dark night that You are faithful and powerful to bring rejoicing in the morning.
