“From the rising of the sun to its setting, let the name of the Lord be praised.” – Psalm 113:3
This past Sunday was an incredibly exciting day! We began by setting up chairs outside in the dark preparing for a sunrise service. When that sunrise service began, we had around 70 people gathering to worship outside in 28-degree temperatures. From there we had another indoor service at 8:30 am, children’s activities and brunch at 9:45, and a final service at 11am. I know that after those events, most of our members continued the celebration by getting together with friends and family. On Easter, we praise God pretty much from sunrise to sunset. And it is a beautiful thing!
But why does that only happen on Easter? Why can’t we carry that kind of praise, joy, excitement, and worship through every day? After all, we do not say, “Christ was risen,” we say “He is risen! He is risen indeed!” Christ’s victory over death, was not an accomplishment for himself, it was for us. And his victory over death is not simply a historical fact, it is a constant reality that means we are seated with him in God’s presence for all eternity (Ephesians 2:6). If that is not a reason to celebrate from sunrise to sunset, I don’t know what is! So, each morning as the sun comes up, praise him for his victory over death that has given you new life. In each challenge you face throughout the day, praise him that he is constantly present. And each evening, praise him that he has sustained you through another day. From the rising to the setting of the sun, Praise the name of the Lord!
Lord, keep us always mindful of the unfathomable blessing of your presence. Keep us ever aware of your incredible power and glory. Keep up us constantly in worship.
In Christ’s Service,
