“For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared ahead of time for us to do.” – Ephesians 2:10
This past Saturday we held our 20th annual Family Fun Day and Car Show. It was our biggest and most well-attended event to date. There were hundreds of people in and out throughout the day. At one point, someone who had never been a part of this event before asked me, “how do you make money during this when you are giving everything away for free?” My answer to him was very simple; “We don’t make money.” This is not a fundraiser. This is an opportunity to provide a fun and free event for the whole family. We want people to come and enjoy themselves without the stress of figuring out how to afford it. Simply put, we want them to know we love them. This event is only possible because we have people who give to the church on a regular basis, businesses who made donations, and 84 youth and adult volunteers making everything happen.
“God will provide!” Have you ever heard that? Well, it is definitely true. But something we often forget is that you might be the one through whom he provides. Whether it is your volunteer time, your financial gift, your listening ear, or simply a hug, the truth is God uses his people to do his work. God’s work gets done through willing believers who sacrifice in order to bless others. I encourage you to take time today and ask, “how am I being used for God’s purposes? How can I do more, be more, and give more in order to accomplish God’s will in the lives of others?” We are God’s workmanship, created for the purpose of good works…so let’s all get to work!
Lord, make us willing and useful vessels for Your purposes. Give us the privilege of being involved in something eternal. Fill us with Your Holy Spirit and do something through us that is greater than we could ever imagine.
In Christ’s Service,
Pastor Shane Cannon
