“Whoever does God’s will is my brother and sister and mother.” – Mark 3:35
Dr. Martyn Lloyd-Jones once said, “The most powerful thing of all is not that my sins have been forgiven, nor that I may enjoy certain experiences and blessings as a Christian. The thing that should astonish me…overwhelm me is that I am a child of God.” It is true that God’s love is demonstrated in His incredible mercy when He gave His one and only Son as the sacrifice to pay the price for our sin. However, God’s love is too big to stop there. He has invited us, who were once condemned to hell, to be part of His loving family. Jesus Christ is not only my Savior, but my brother. And His Father is my Father. If God’s forgiveness is difficult to understand, than this kind of loving adoption is surely incomprehensible! So, brothers and sisters, let your mind be filled with wonder and joy today as you proclaim, “How great is the love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God?! And that is what we are!!!” Father, we could never thank You enough for rescuing us, bringing us into Your family, and calling us Your children.
