“So then, just as you have received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to walk in him.” – Colossians 2:6
In Christianity we tend to focus on one singular event in our walk with Christ. We like to hear testimonies about the day God rescued someone from the horrible state they were in. We like the incredible stories of great revelation. Because that is the moment we pass from death to life, those stories bring us incredible joy and they never get old. That is the moment that everything changed!
However, because of the focus on that amazing moment, the Church has often neglected to continue on by telling the story of a daily walk with Christ. If we focus so much on the story of our salvation day that we forget the story of waking up every day with Jesus, then we have missed a vital aspect of knowing Christ. Remember, we are not only saved from final condemnation, but we are also given an intimate relationship with the God of all creation which is meant to guide us, empower us, comfort us, and convict us through every moment of our lives. Your testimony should not simply be about one moment with Christ. It should be a testimony of continued relationship with him that permeates every day and every aspect of your life
Father, today we make a commitment to look for You every day just as much as we looked to You the day of our salvation. Keep us watchful for the opportunity to expand our testimony into so much more than simply one day of our lives. Let our testimony be about a lifetime of walking with Jesus.
In Christ’s Service,
Pastor Shane Cannon
