“In him was life, and that life was the light of men…The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us.” – John 1:4, 14

The opening verses of the book of John give us a picture, not of a cold distant god, but of an intimate Creator. The picture we are given is one of an incredibly talented artist or an amazingly skilled craftsman. He literally pours His heart into His creation. And then, like any great artist or craftsman, He Himself takes great pleasure in enjoying His creation. It is the very life of Christ that sparks the light of life in each and every one of us. And He has done this great work for the purpose of knowing and loving those He created. We not only get to enjoy life because of Jesus Christ, we get to enjoy life with Jesus Christ!

God of all creation, thank You for loving us so powerfully and intimately; and thank You for making the ultimate sacrifice so that we can enjoy life with you for all eternity.
