One thing I ask of the LORD, this is what I seek: that I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life, to gaze upon the beauty of the LORD and to seek him in his temple.” – Psalm 27:4

If you could make just one request of God, what would it be? David was famously known as a man after God’s own heart, and Psalm 27 is a great example of why. David’s answer to the questions is, “I would request to be in God’s presence every day of my life.” You see, if we read all of Psalm 27, we quickly discover that David understood that every human desire (safety, love, significance, belonging, etc.) are only perfectly met by dwelling in the presence of God. God, in Himself, holds everything we need to be at complete peace and filled with complete joy. Through Jesus Christ, God has made this place available to each and every one who would come to Him. Ephesians 2:6 tells us; “God raised us up with Christ and seated us with him in the heavenly realms in Christ Jesus.” So what is your biggest desire today? As you pray, what kind of requests are you making of God? Is it your deepest passion to simply dwell in His presence every moment of every day? Do you truly believe that all you need and desire is met in the presence of God? Heavenly Father, we ask one simple, yet profound thing today; we want to dwell with You every moment of every day and on into eternity.
